SYNOPSIS
A documentary film about Ilija Šoškić, one of the most radical protagonists of conceptual art in the former Yugoslavia and the contemporary European avant-garde. From the student protests of 1968 and the emergence of a new art scene at the Student Cultural Centre in Belgrade, to performances, installations and “guerrilla” artistic actions that marked his life in Italy, Šoškić’s oeuvre remains a provocation, an invitation to think and an act of resistance. Six decades of artistic work and ninety years of life are distilled into a documentary that opens up fragments of a biography in which the boundaries between art and life have been erased.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sanja Blečić has been a journalist with Montenegrin Television (TVCG) since 1994. Throughout her long career, she has worked across various journalistic formats and genres, from news and culture to documentary programming. She was the editor of the TV show Art, and has been involved in the creation and development of TVCG’s Scientific and Educational Programme since its very beginnings. She spent two decades as editor of that department, shaping content dedicated to science, education, culture and social issues. She has been making documentaries since 1999, starting with the co-authored series Montenegro and the Great Powers. She has realised numerous documentary programmes, mostly dealing with history, as well as portrait documentaries dedicated to prominent figures from culture and the arts, including films about Dado Đurić and Danilo Kiš. She is the recipient of two awards at the Bar TV Festival (a special prize for TV reportage and a directing award). She is currently part of the Cultural and Arts Department of Montenegrin Television, where she works as the author of documentary films and programmes.
