SYNOPSIS
The film delves into the musical mastery of Roma brass musicians in Serbia, revealing the difficult life and struggle for survival behind the vibrant melodies. At the center of the story is Milan Nikolić, who continues the important mission of teacher Maksut Maksutović, striving to teach Roma children how to play properly and maintain their health. The encounter between American professor Nada Miljković and Milan offers an authentic and emotional glimpse into their lives.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jelena Radenović was born in Belgrade in 1979. She completed her undergraduate studies in acting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in the field of film and media studies. Her doctoral research focused on the theory, origins, and development of acting in film, and her work titled Acting in Hollywood Musicals was published by the Film Center Serbia in 2014. For several years, she worked as a journalist and editor for TV channels Studio B and B92. Since her student days, she has been involved in teaching, working with children of elementary and high school age as well as adults. She currently teaches acting for film and television at the Fokus Film School at Kolarac. Since August 2017, she has been collaborating with the United Nations Trust Fund (UNTF) to End Violence Against Women, creating video stories (short documentary forms) about their work.
